The Write: Outloud tutorial explains how this software helps students self assess their writing to determine if what they have written reflects what they want to say.  The spell checker feature also enables students to check spelling on words they have spelled phonetically.  Additionally, there is a bibliography that helps students correctly site sources in APA or MLA format.
