What types of disabilities or learner challenges faced by students registered at Cabrini's DRC would best be supported by this software?
Cabrini's DRC students who are deaf, hard of hearing, have learning differences, or visual impairments could benefit from C-Print software. Cabrini's DRC strives to introduce assistive technology accommodations to our students that will help them in their professional endeavors after college. Because C-Print is used successfully in business and community settings as well as in education, an added advantage of C-Print would be that DRC students could C-Print in the work world.
How could this software be used by Cabrini DRC students?
Cabrini University students with hearing and learning challenges can struggle to take notes during class lectures. Currently our possible note-taking accommodation services include peer note takers, simple recording devices, Sonocent note taking recording software, or Live Scribe pens. Like any AT accommodation, these offerings may or may not be suitable for all students. The C-Print service is an expensive option that may serve Cabrini students whose needs are not met through our existing options. With C-Print, a trained operator produces a text version of spoken information in the class that can be provided to the student in both paper and electronic format.
Is the software user-friendly and intuitive?
Yes, C-Print can be accessed by students through Android operating systems, Windows,or
OSX. Students can communicate with the captionist and choose individual display preferences. C-Print strikes me as an extremely accurate and user-friendly option for students whose needs are significant and unmet by less expensive solutions.
Is the software expensive?
In my opinion, C-Print is very expensive. The C-Print Pro Server application is $330 and the required C-Print online captionist training is $450.
