IEP Annual Goal Met by Single Message Voice Output Device

Annual Goal:  Mary will communicate her interests and needs in three or more environments/situations using a single message voice output device. (Example 4)

AT Device to Meet Annual Goal:

Express ONE

How would a Single Message Voice Output Device meet this Annual Goal?
Currently, Mary's sounds are not always understood by the people around her which she finds frustrating. Mary could use a single message voice output device, like the Express ONE shown above, which would serve as a great introduction to communication.  Messages that allow Mary to request a change in activity, initiate communication, interact during games, and lead the class during singing time would help her become more independent. Single message communicators can be added to create a multi-message communicator. Mary could start with a single message communicator and add on as she acquires additional skills. An elevated platform and slot for objects or picture cards also makes these single message communicators helpful for teaching object identification. Consistent with the goals of the TASH Resolution, having the use of this single message voice output device would allow Mary a means of communication in multiple environments.
